2026 Masterworks Solo Auditions
Solo Auditions are open to any choir student - every choir and every grade.
There are many solo opportunities available in our 2026 Masterworks Concert. However, even though there are solos in the Beethoven Choral Fantasy and Schubert Mass in G, everyone will audition on the 35-second audition excerpts below. Students can submit auditions for multiple parts (i.e., a Tenor can submit for the Tenor and Bass excerpts).
Steps for Success:
1) Print out the score (sheet music) to the Audition Excerpt for your part (there are a few copies in the choir room as well):
Soprano/Alto Excerpt
Tenor/Bass Excerpt
2) Learn the German pronunciation with this pronunciation guide:
Soprano/Alto Pronunciation Guide
Tenor/Bass Pronunciation Guide
3) Learn your part. Use the "Vocal Model" recordings below:
Soprano Vocal Model Recording (all Sopranos will audition on Soprano 1, not Soprano 2)
Alto Vocal Model Recording (all Altos will sing the Alto, bottom note, not the Soprano 2, middle note)
Tenor Vocal Model Recording (all Tenors will audition on Tenor 1, not Tenor 2)
Bass Vocal Model Recording (all Basses will sing the Bass, bottom note, not the Tenor 2, middle note)
4) Record your audition at your convenience.
- Use one device to play the ACCOMPANIMENT ONLY (not vocal model) recording
- Use another device to record yourself (audio, not video) singing over the accompaniment track.
Soprano/Alto Accompaniment Track
Tenor/Bass Accompaniment Track
By 11:59pm on Monday, February 16, upload your audition recording.
REMEMBER:
1) You can use the "Vocal Model" recording to learn your part, but you must play the "Accompaniment Track" for your audition.
2) The Audition link will stop being live at 11:59pm on February 16 (but you can upload anytime before then).
3) In order to be considered for any of the solos on the Masterworks Concert, you must submit a recording of the excerpts above.
